A Randomized Double Blind Controlled Trial of Ringers Lactate Versus Normal Saline Among Pediatric Patients with Acute Severe Diarrhea

Objective: To compare ringer’s lactate versus normal saline as a fluid replacement therapy among pediatric patients with acute severe diarrhea and dehydration. Study Setting: A quasi experimental study was undertaken at Paediatric medicine department, “Peoples university of medical health sciences for women Nawabshah during April to September 2021”. Material Methods: conducted. Randomly participants were divided in two groups, group Ringer given while B replacement. Detailed history, clinical findings, demographic details the serum electrolytes, renal parameters acid-base status both groups noted on pre-formed proforma, before after 6 hours starting therapy. Data analyzed by using SPSS V-20. Results:Mean age RL 3.35 ± 1.22 3.39 1.19 NS male predominance. At time admission, there no significant association characteristics between groups.After treatment, end dehydration pH improved more group. The change electrolytes comprising potassium, chloride sodium greater RL, other hand, p-values only potassium. Looking over status, alteration bicarbonate compared p-value.
